I have a question for my atheist gun-hating friends. What happened in France was a tragedy, Many are blaming the religion of Islam for the attack and now Jews and Christians are either protesting or causing violence against the people of Islam. Sickening as it is, as atheists/agnostic/humanists/non-Abrahamic religion folks, what would happen if these extremists decided to put their hatred of each other aside and group up with each other?
All three religion, well the extremists, believe that nonbelievers must be killed, LGBTQ are sinners and must die and women must be submissive to men or die.
As non-followers, we support the opposite. As believer, they believe that. So then I ask, what are we to do if all three major religion within their extremist belief do work as one? Would you take up arms to protect yourself and your family and friends? All it takes is one idiot to say: ISIS and God Hates F@gs/KKK, and the Likud think alike and though we may have our differences, we all have a common enemy.
Don't think it won't happen? Don't underestimate the powers of hate. Think for a second. The headquarters of the Muslim religion where Mecca sits (Saudi Arabia) is allied with the country that is "supposedly" being attacked and hated by Muslims and that is Israel. What happens if all the Muslims nations put aside their religious differences and go after atheists/agnostics/ Humanists/non-Abrhamic religions?
Would you then take up arms? Granted, Jewish Voice for Peace, CAIR and liberal Christians may take our side, but as nonbelievers, would you feel safe against these extremists? The right scream: War on Christians/Christmas and Easter. Some call us antisemitic, while others may call us heretics. I see a pattern and maybe, maybe, the hatred of the few may stir up hatred against us, and what are we to do IF and I emphasize IF this happens? What will we do? What will YOU do?
